Meet the Doctor

Hi, I am Dr. Barbara Frackowiak and I am a certified orthodontic specialist with over 30 years of practice experience.

About 10 years ago, I started looking at alternatives to the traditional approach of waiting until a child was older and pulling teeth to make room for braces and straight teeth. I did extensive research on the benefits of Myofunctional and Airway Orthodontics, which has been practiced in over 35 countries for over 50 years. Its primary focus is on growing the mouth to accommodate the teeth.

In my spare time, I enjoy cottage country and I am the mom to eight llamas, one horse and many ducks, goats, wild birds and critters on the farm who all have great smiles and airways!

What is Airway Centered Orthodontics?

Early Treatment

At Quantum Orthodontics, we take a holistic approach. We recommend early treatment (ages 4 or 5) to minimize the need for braces and focus on proper face, jaw, and airway development for better breathing which can positively impact sleep, behaviour and brain development!

Myofunctional Therapy

Better faces...Less Braces!

The Myobrace System is a no-braces approach to straightening your teeth and jaws. Myofunctional orthodontic techniques have been practiced by Orthodontists and Dentists around the world for over 50 years. This is done through the use of a series of removable dental appliances that are worn for just 1-2 hours each day and overnight while sleeping. Daily use of the Myobrace combined with regular activities (to improve breathing, muscle function and tongue posture) results in straighter teeth and improved function, leading to optimal facial development and a healthier smile.

Expansion & Airway Centered Orthodontics

Removable expander, clear aligners & traditional braces

By expanding the roof of the mouth at an early age, we are able to grow the jaw and surrounding facial structures to not only increase our patients breathing and airway, but allow the teeth to erupt correctly in the mouth! This change allows us to look beyond "straight teeth", to the nose, muscles of the tongue, throat, face and neck. Suddenly all the pieces of the puzzle fit together and we are treating more than crooked teeth, but breathing and sleep issues as well. By choosing a case specific modality after expansion (ie: clear aligners or traditional braces) we are able to achieve a beautiful straight smile that will give you confidence for years to come.

Could Airway Centered treatment be for you?
